Description: Volotic is an experimental nonlinear sequencer by artist Scott Garner. What does that even mean? It means a fun way to create songs for everyone, with no musical experience required. In Volotic, you compose a song by arranging a selection of “towers” on a grid. Each tower has a different function for creating beats, modifying beats or triggering instruments.
Review: Volotic is an odd way of making music that consists of a ball bouncing from one tile to the next. OK, so it’s not quite as simple as that, but that is the general gist of things. There are loads of different tiles of which some shot balls out, some fire them into the background and some fire them towards you and some just make a sound when hit! This is not a game as such, its something for music makers to mess around with and that means it will not be for everyone. I did have fun messing around with it, but sadly I was never going to get my money’s worth here. But that doesn’t mean you won’t.
