Presentation: With a nice box with all the buzz words you want back in the mid-1990’s this toy would have sold quite well, but it is, of course, a toy and nothing else so no protection was needed.

Description: From the same people who brought you the VR 3D: Orbiter 9 comes the Virtual Reality Headset Walkie Talkies! This was a toy headset that featured such amazing things such as voice activated operation for hands-free fun, flexible antenna & microphone and featuring the best thing of all…Virtual Reality Lights!!!
Released in 1995 this is a great toy that sadly would have only lead to people being confused as to what virtual reality was. But is that any different to marketing these days? Technically Google Cardboard isn’t a VR viewer, its a 3D stereoscopic viewer! It seems people (and marketing teams) just love the words ‘Virtual Reality’ and with the right sort of headset (not this one) you can be captured with those words and taken to magical places. The headset did the same thing, but only if you used your imagination.

Review: There is no other way to say this, but just about anything with the words “Virtual reality” came out during the 90’s and this fun toy is such a case. There is nothing VR about this at all, it was just a poor quality walkie talkie with a plastic red screen with some lights on the outside! So why did we include it here? Because it goes to show the confusion people faced trying to get into VR in the 1990s. I suppose with a little imagination this could be fun, but it has so little to do with VR it is almost laughable.
