Review: I have to say I kind of see and understand peoples trepidations about ‘Ultrawings 2’. The problem this game has is that it delivers on what people really wanted all along, without any extra effort put into it. You see, it is more of the same, original game. It’s a fun flight sim that people can pick up and play. Even people who have never flown an aircraft before can play this and learn what to do in a short space of time. There is balloon popping, drone shooting and general all-around flying fun.
But what it doesn’t do is add anything new to the original game’s style and mix. Yes, there are more aircraft and a variety of missions, but it all feels very much the same and it sure as hell looks exactly the same. In fact, you could play swap from the original game to this one between each mission and not notice much difference at all! So it’s a good job I love the original game just as much as I did when it first came out otherwise I would have felt this new game was a little too arcade-like for its own good. This and the original game are not as simple as Pilotwings and not as complicated as a proper flight sim like Microsoft Flight Simulator, it sits in-between them and a lot of people find that confusing. I love this game for that stomach-dropping sense of flying, but I stay for all the fun missions and getting those golds. But I can also understand those who don’t like this game at all and just find it kind of aimless.
