Description: In 1923, in a parallel world, steam power and “Ki,” the power of nature itself, thrive. Powerful beings called “Kami” have begun rampaging on Onogoro Island, an ancient floating island. Haru is sent to the island to quell the Kami, but before she can finish her mission, she is betrayed, gravely injured, and locked away.
Trapped, and fearing the worst, she summons help…and plucks a player from a VR game in a parallel world–you! A grand adventure depicting the bond between you and Haru awaits in this uniquely Japanese VR action adventure! Save them. They are in your hands.
Review: ‘The Tale of Onogoro’ is a manga themed adventure game with a touch of steampunk as well. To put things simply and not give too much away story-wise you are trying to help the Japanese high priestess Haru escape her chains and you do this by battling monsters, solving puzzles and listening along as the story unfolds and to be fair it is a very interesting story and well voice acted.
While the graphical style isn’t going to be to everyone’s tastes, this is one of those games you already know you will enjoy, otherwise you won’t be downloading it. The good news is this really is worth the download and I found myself playing right through just to discover what happens next. At just shy of 3 hours I feel I did rush through the game a little and if you take your time you should easily get your money’s worth. As I said, it is not going to be for everyone, but if you like this game style this is well worth a look.
