Description: You are an embedded journalist travelling with a small US Army special forces team as they battle “The Soldiers of Heaven” – a religious cult in Iraq that tried to start a Muslim Armageddon during the Ashura festival. This battle with the SOH ended with over 300 deaths : men, women and children. This project is based on a true story that was covered up… and now you have a chance to try and find the truth. Armed with a virtual camera you will film your own version of the story as it unfolds in an immersive 3D world. In this build, you can watch a preview in-game. This immersive journalism experience combines live-action with 3D animation. It is being built with the Unreal 4 game engine.
Review: If you go into ‘Soldiers of Heaven VR’ wanting a war game or some sort of action game you are in for a bitter disappointment. This is more a film education demo than anything else. It is designed to show you how changing the angle of a scene can change the way that scene looks and while basic and shorter than the lifespan of an amoeba it kind of does that it needs to do and for just £0.79 I think it is worth a look for anyone getting into cinematography. But other than that this is one…experience left on the cutting room floor.
