Description: Undersea SEAL Delivery Vehicle (SDV) VR Experience is a short fidelity demonstrator. This version supports a ride along experience with no user controls. The goal of this demonstrator is to evaluate the quality of presence in an underwater operational environment.
Review: The SDV VR Experience is a short on-rails ride along that demonstrates what it is like to ride in a NAVY SEAL SDV (Special Delivery Vehicle) although what special things it can deliver is anyone’s guess. You start off inside a submarine and then power backwards, get your wings attached then off you go on your “special” mission.
While the mission simply ends with the SDV landing on the bottom having achieved nothing except exiting the sub this is a fascinating look and experience that you will never be able to experience in real life and experiences like this are what make VR so great.
While this is a very short experience to say the least, what there is looks simply amazing and does feel very realistic. At the end of the day, you will never get to experience this in real life unless you become a NAVY SEAL and for 99.99% of us that will never happen. If you love war books and NAVY tech and simulations this will be perfect for you. For the rest of us, it’s a small look into a world we will never see.
