Description: Demo of Schwein Manned Maneuvering Unit, a 6 degrees of freedom shooter using newtonian flight dynamics. Story: An AI has become self aware and taken over automated stations near Earth and Jupiter’s orbit. You have been tasked with investigating these station and neutralizing the AI if need be.
Review: It is no secret that we are fans of space shooters here in the VR shop. The story goes that an AL has become aware on a space station and it is your job to take care of the problem and neutralise the threat. How do you do that? By shooting the hell into anything that moves. You get control of a ship with a 6 degrees of freedom which mean this is not for those who suffer from VR sickness as this game can make even the hardiest of stomachs feel queazy.
The controls take a lot of getting used to, to say the least. With your look controlling the gun turrets and the control sticks (you have to use a gamepad) to control the movement of the ship. Even then things are a little tricky.
While still in an early stage of development this is a game we have a lot of hope for in the future. If the makers can get the ship controls sorted out this could a great space shooter and deeply immersive. But for now it is just too difficult to control, but still worth a look if you have the stomach for it.
