Description: Reality Mixer lets you bring real objects into VR. It uses the cameras on the headset to show a real object and its surroundings in the current VR environment. Think of objects like keyboard & mouse, a racing wheel, a clock on the wall, a drink on your desk, a phone, a tablet, a chair, a couch, etc. Also larger real objects can be used. Like the door to your room, so you can see who comes in. Or bring the whole floor into VR, which helps with untangling from the headset cable.

Review: Apps like ‘Reality Mixer – Mixed Reality for Vive and Index’ remind me that there are still people out there trying new things with VR and pushing the limits of what the technology can do. Reality Mixer lets you bring real objects into VR. It uses the camera on the headset to show the real object and its surroundings in the current VR environment (game). The good news is it kind of works, but is sadly limited in use by the quality of the cameras on the Valve Index & HTC Vive headsets. There will be someone who will find this incredibly useful and most of us will have no use at all for it. But I am happy to still see people doing this sort of thing and pushing the boundaries of what the headset can do.
