Presentation: This headset was the original Kickstarter version so all you get in the pretty basic box was the headset with its various leads attached. there was also a warranty card and a user manual, but nothing worth mentioning when it comes to packaging. The headset was nested in a plastic tray, but that is about it.

Review: I have to be honest with you, the original Pimax 8K felt very cheap with a nasty brittle plastic feel to it. This cheapness doesn’t stop when it comes to using it because the headset has lots of distortion so you need to play on the lowest setting almost all the time. The IPD was also way off so that makes things even worse visually. Sure, if you can play around with it and fiddle with the settings there are times the wide FOV comes into its own, but it wasn’t 8k, in fact, it was hardly 4k per eye. Their marketing on the display size is also false. They are measuring it diagonally whereas most other VR headsets do not. This means the viewable area is not as large as advertised. With time this headset grows into something much better than this original sibling, but if you see this model on eBay, I would avoid it.
