Description: An immersive music experience featuring an original track by the dark electronic band Spanking Machine. Walkthrough two worlds inspired by the music, using your controller to explore every corner and discover surprises. Along with animated 3D art, the experience features a full-length music video by award-winning director Mark Pellington. Fire, robots and mythic creatures await you!
The inspiration for this experience came from the classic vinyl album cover. Back in the day, you could look at amazing cover art while listening to music and get lost in the world of the artist. Now, album art has been reduced to a small digital image. As both musicians and visual artists, Spanking Machine are using VR to bring back cover art in a new way.
Review: While ‘Permission VR’ isn’t the best VR music video the two elements of visuals and audio do work well together. The “song” lasts for about 5 minutes but it will feel longer than that because it is on a loop. All you do really is walk about a weird, dream-like environment that has two main themes. I just wish the visuals were in time with the music better than some weird free walking motion. But is worth a look if you like these VR music videos, but those expecting gameplay will be bitterly disappointed.
