Description: For anyone who has ever watched a BBC Earth production and wished they could get closer to the action, Oogie is an exciting new kind of exploration game – the interactive documentary.
Developed with BBC Earth and authentically narrated, Oogie is the story of a small Beetle with big dreams. After catching a glimpse of his dream girl, Oogie sets out on a perilous journey across the South African desert. On his travels the brave little beetle will encounter fierce ants, rugged terrain, and deadly predators.
Played using the oculus remote you go out on your adventure collecting various things along the way. From little gems to video clips. It’s slow moving and there are no hard parts to speak of (maybe some mild peril with regards to the “Boss Fights” *I’m just trying to keep this spoiler free). There are three levels to finish, you can try and find all the gems on each one and there are also some video clips to watch. Given that this app is free, there is a surprising amount to do.
While there is a lot of interesting things going on in the game, there is a lot to learn about by the narration and storyline. This is classic BBC, made on the cheap and thoroughly educational. If you or your little ones are into bugs and beetles, give this a look. At the end of the day, it’s free and will keep you amused even it’s a just for a short space of time.
