Description: Power Boat Racing in a new flavour. Real ocean physics, in a brand new way. Correct your trim to prevent turnovers, or to cut corners at fastest possible speed. Race against different opponents in different environments or just go for a cruise and skip the racing for a while. Put on you VR-Glasses and let yourself be on the virtual water. You will experience that different hull types have different characteristics. This game has been under development for a long time since the ocean/water physics is a beast to render.
Review: ‘MelDEV Power Boat Racing’ is a powerboat racing game in which you will be leaping across the water trying to catch up to your opponents. It is clear from the off that this is not a game that has been made for VR and it feels more like an afterthought than any real attempt to make it VR friendly. Sadly the gameplay is this games first big problem as catching up is rediculous easy to the point that the game doesn’t offer any challenge at all. But the gameplay is the least of this game’s problems…
It’s not often I will say this, but it is the sound effects and music that really put me off recommend this to anyone. With the beep-boop 8-bit music and the basic sound effects, there is no immersion here, no effort. Sure, a lot of effort went into making the water look good, but all that effort didn’t make their gameplay good so what was the point? Anyway, it is not something I could recommend unless it gets a pretty large update which I can’t see happening any time soon.
