Description: GeoBuds are little shapes powered by friendship and good vibes. Hit the ‘YEAH!’ buttons to become their bud and bring them to life. Then reach out and bop them, poke them or just knock them around. As you become friends with each group they’ll start singing their own little song so by the end of the day you’ll be surrounded by a choir of new friends. Geometric showcases the buttons from Leap Motion’s UI Widgets, one of our many Unity assets which developers can download and use in their own projects. These buttons feel great to press thanks to affordances and visual/audio feedback that give them a tactile feel without any haptics.
Review: While there aren’t the grab / pinch interactions that ‘Blocks’ has this is still one of those apps that feels good to play. Filled with all manner of shapes and each shape with its own personality. They are happy together as a group, but start poking a few of them away and they get sad. The most noticeable thing about playing this is just how detailed the individual finger tracking can be. Being able to poke a single cube out of many would have made the perfect VR Jenga game.
This app might not blow you away quite like Blocks does, but this is still well worth downloading. If you own a Leap Motion Controller and an Oculus Rift DK2, CV1 or HTC Vive this is one of those apps you must experience. It’s not about shooting, driving, missions or any set goals. It’s about having fun, and that is what virtual reality should always be about.
