Review: Did you ask for a kitten when you were younger only for your parents to say no? If you did maybe Konrad the Kitten will be the answer to your pet owning problems. The idea is you attach one Oculus Touch controller to a stuffed cat (I used a rabbit) and then put your headset on. Playing sat on the floor with your stuffed toy you get to see it come to life, meowing and purring, then as you reach for your real-world stuffed pet the VR version follows the same moves tricking your brain into believing you are holding a real cat…and guess what!? It kind of works!
Inside VR and in the real world you and your pet kitten can play games, collect coins to spend on virtual accessories for your cat (including a pipe) and even watch your cat clean itself and eat. While it might sound crazy it really does work surprisingly well and would probably keep the little ones amused for hours. But as an adult, I still managed to find some fun things to do and some good mini-games to play. If you suffer from pet hair allergies, but still want a pet, this is the perfect solution!
While there isn’t a whole lot of games to play with your kitten the feeling of playing with a stuffed toy that you can physically hold and touch, but yet, in VR watching it come to life in front of your eyes is something truly magical. This is one of those VR apps that are best played yourself rather than having someone telling you about and while it won’t be to everyone’s tastes it is a great use of VR to make something very special. In fact, you could say this is more MR (Mixed Reality) than VR (Virtual Reality).
