VR News Flash: Do you remember when JCB entered the smartphone race and everyone laughed? Well, it turned out to be a pretty good and very rugged smartphone. Fast-forward to our world today where everyone is trying to jump on to the virtual reality waggon and swap JCB for JLG Industries. JLG are one of the world’s leading manufacturers of lift equipment for uses in all industries. So things like aerial lifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers etc, etc. They are raising up their own marketing game by making a mobile VR headset that looks just as tough and rugged as their equipment.
Seen at The Rental Show 2016 they wanted a way of showing people what it is like to actually be inside their JLG equipment. One of those experiences is being inside the world’s tallest reach boom lift (which of course they manufacture) and being at almost 190ft it is a sight you might not want to experience in real life, but at least in VR you will feel a little safer. These crazy experiences put aside the custom VR headset looks pretty good and it’s nice to see a firm step it up when it comes to VR marketing. Don’t expect to see them in the shops anytime soon, but it would have made for an interesting headset.
