Description: Take on the role of a gun turret operator on a mining vessel in the Outer Ring region of known space. As part of the ship’s defence team, it is up to you to protect the rig from pirates, opportunists and anyone else looking to take what rightfully belongs to the company. Jump into your heavy weapons turret, power up your guns, and challenge deadly waves of enemy ships determined to blast you and your crew into oblivion.
What I love about this game is how simple it is. Look, shoot, look, shoot! That is pretty much all there is to do. Sure you get some powerups and bigger and better enemies with each stage but no matter how big they are, you still have to look and shoot (and sometimes reload). It’s fast-paced and deadly simple. This would have been amazing as an arcade game.
While I enjoyed the game on the Gear VR I wasn’t impressed that it was almost identical on the Oculus Rift (Steam VR). Running on a PC that produces a game that is no better visuals than the Gear VR (a smartphone) is an embarrassment for CCP Games. Yes, it’s still a good game, but get in on a Gear VR and you will be impressed with it. Running it on a PC that cost the best part of £1000 you suddenly realise it wasn’t worth the asking price. They could have done something, anything better than the Gear VR version and they didn’t bother. Shame on them for doing that and double shame on them for charging the same price.
