So gear up as Jack ‘Knife’ Devers, last of the infamous Dogs of War and wage a one-man crusade to save the solar system from the robot hordes.ss to make it visible to all users. Review: Is like me (sadly) you are old enough to remember playing 16-bit side-scroller action shoot’em up games (Run and Gun Games) like Contra, Metal Slug and the phenomenal Chaos Engine by The Bitmap Brothers then you won’t want to read this review of Gun Sight, you should have already downloaded it. This is a crazy good nod towards those games only all done in VR. But what is the difference? Well, first up this time around it is made from cartoon themed 3D graphics and of course, this is VR and you also get incredible depth detail that makes each charcter, box and enemy look like real little figures in front of you.

It’s pretty simple what it comes to gameplay, just aim the touch controller at the enemy and pull the trigger and the walking character that you control with the thumbstick will shoot towards whatever you are pointing at. It’s like playing Chaos Engine with pieces someone has made, somehow animated and laid out in front of you in a playset kind of way. While basic in graphical design, the 3D depth makes everything seems to strangely real. It’s your classic, walk, shoot, walk some more gameplay. There are power-ups, boss fights and a million and one enemies to shoot at each and every level.

Let’s get the gripes out of the way. The ‘locked’ tutorial until you play part of the campaign is probably the daftest thing in this game and at times the levels look a little barren. But that is pretty much it! The gameplay is fast and furious (maybe a little repetitive after a while) and there are more than enough levels to keep you busy for a while and quite a few game modes. It feels so odd seeing such a retro styled game in such a new light and makes great use of VR which you might not understand until you play it in VR. On a 2D screen it looks like any other shoot and run sidescroller, but this is so much more and it also has a great asking price. A very worthy buy for anyone into retro gaming or someone old enough to remember playing the classics this game is based on.
