Review: It is hard to know where to start describing what Gang Beasts is. Yes, it is a Beat ’em up at heart, but it is also a crazy party game where the fun never stops. The idea is pretty simple. This online-only battle game is a duel to the death. You have to ring out or kill all other opponents in the game. How do you do this? By whatever means,you can come up with. Hold them in front of a train, throw them off the moving truck and even chuck them into the meat grinder! There are so many ways to kill someone in the game it would be impossible to name them all.
While there are controls to learn this game is an all out button basher. You will be fighting for your life one minute, defeating people the next, every game feels different, every round will end in a different way. This is a Beat ’em up of the likes you have never seen before. Gang Beasts is silly, glitchy and doesn’t look amazing. But all those things make it what it is. This is a game where you will laugh at one day and be angry with the next, it’s a roller coaster ride Beat em’up that really shouldn’t work but does. Be warned, when you start playing this game your life outside of VR will vanish. It’s always…just…one…more…fight. But to be fair it is just as much fun when played on a flat 2D screen.
