Review: Farpoint is a first-person shooter for the PSVR that is the first to use the new “PlayStation VR Aim” accessory for a PlayStation Move controller. This cheap-looking, gun-shaped accessory gives you the gun feeling and in theory, makes the VR even more immersive. This game can also be played with a gamepad, but it is best with the PlayStation VR Aim. The game is set on an alien planet that is filled to the brim with deadly alien creatures that are just waiting to attack you at a moments notice.
While the shooting is done with the pointing of the gun accessory the movement is done via the thumbsticks on the front of the gun. While at first, this was not the easiest to use I soon got used to it and was moving my character around without issue. It’s fast-paced and at times you will have to move and shoot just to stay on top of things. The creatures just seem to come from everywhere and get bigger and bigger. But it is the multiplay mode where this game really shines.
It is the AIM gun controller that makes this game worth every penny. The feeling of immersion you get is on a level that I have not experienced on the PSVR before and it fills me with hope for a bright future for PSVR. This is a game you can very easily slip into and spend hours playing and for the first few days, that is what you will do. If you own a PSVR and don’t own this, you might as well return it. This is a stunning game, great graphics and fantastic replay value. VR doesn’t get much better than this.
