Description: In DYING: Reborn PS VR the player becomes an investigator who, using state-of-the-art VR technology, gets to unravel and investigate the case of Mathews lost sister as well as a series of eerie events following it. By immersing oneself in the world of D:R, the player will explore a series of fragments that together form 3 chapters of Mathews story. Those hungry for the complete 6 chapter story can check out the PS4 version of D:R.
Gameplay-wise, it works nicely with the Dual Shock 4 controller put to great use. But this is not a game that holds your hand. There are no clues, no hints, you just have to figure it out for yourself. And while most of the puzzles are not particularly hard, you will spend most the time kicking yourself for not working it out sooner. But there are the odd one or two that will really get your head-scratching. Of course, you don’t need me to tell you that there are all sorts of jump scares along the way to distract you in both visual, as well as audio form. But if you’ve already played Resident Evil 7, it should be nothing you can’t handle (or expect).
VR is perfect for horror because it immerses you in ways a 2D screen never could. So despite its flaws DYING: Reborn is still a very scary game that will get the blood pumping fast. Yes, it is short-lived, yes it is difficult to play due to the lack of in-game clues and it can be quite nauseating. But I still enjoyed it a lot and having already finished Resident Evil 7 I found this to be a good game to play after it to keep those jump scares coming. I just hope the rest of the chapters make it into VR later on.
