Presentation: As you might expect from a budget VR headset from China you really don’t get a lot to unbox at all. In fact, the brown box with a single logo tag on it wasn’t exactly strong and sturdy meaning you might get some damage while it is in transit. Sure, the insides are neatly packaged, but there is no shine here, no premium feel. Just barely adequate packaging done as cheaply as possible.

Description: Deepoon is once again trying to get into the all-in-one VR headset market with the DeePoon M2 VR. It doesn’t have to do much to improve over the DeePoon e2 which was little more than a pair of video glasses. A lot of people see Chinese production as the answer to virtual reality cost issues. So can the DeePoon M2 VR really be the headset we are looking for? Well, the good news is, this is much more of a VR headset than the DeePoon e2 ever was. As before it can be used independently, without having to use your Android, or IOS smartphone or PC. So this really is a device you can directly plunge you into the virtual reality world.
But yet again this headset would seem to be not much different than an all in one VR headset running android. Having said that the price is a lot cheaper when compared with VR headsets like the Gear VR with at least an S6 to power it. But comparing it that way it also works out the other way, with a cheap mobile VR headset and basic smartphone to power it, you could make one of these yourself for much less than it costs to buy it all built into one. At the end of the day, for people without a smartphone, this is a great all-in-one VR headset that has all the mobile VR aspects you need to have a good VR experience. But if you already have a smartphone or indeed you are looking for a full VR headset there are far better systems out there that can do so much more for less.

Review: While still ultimately still a pretty crap headset the ‘Deepoon M2’ is my favourite out of all the Deepon series of cheap Chinsees VR headsets. Provided you cna get this headset cheap enough you can end up with a pretty great set of video glasses and a headset that also plays some fun 3DoF VR games and content. Out of all of them, this headset had the best resolution and the best padding and while still feeling like a brick sat upon your head, it manages to be wearable for long periods of time. You can also plug this headset into a PC and enjoy Oculus Rift DK2 compatible games! Just don’t pay full price for it otherwise you will end up feeling ripped off.
