Review: Love your all-out, action space shooters? Then this isn’t the game for you. This is a realistic style space-themed game that still captures the easy controls and gameplay of a space shooter title, but it throws in the vastness of space and graphics that I can only describe as ultra-realistic. Obvious I haven’t been in space, but I have watched enough Battlestar Galactica to know what it looks like. Talking of Battlestar Galactica, that is exactly what this game reminds me of. Not the beautiful, polished worlds and environments of Star Wars, but a grungy, much more realistic style.
But it is the massive range of environments and mission styles that give this game almost endless gameplay hours. It also has a nice range of ships, but you won’t be looking at the ship, you will be looking out the window at something with your jaw wide open. A few things of worthy note are the light reflection on the glass of the spaceship you are in and being able to see people inside of the other spaceships. I think if I did a flyby and one of them waved at me I might well have wept with joy.
The more I play CDF Starfighter VR the more I love it. There is just so much to see and more environments and worlds keep getting added. If you love your space games this is a must. But if you are not sure, do try and wait for a sale as this is one of those games that requires time and commitment to get into.
