Review: From the game listing on the Oculus store, to the main menus. This game gives a cartoonish, manga style to itself. With drawn characters telling you what to do all the time. But once you get into the real gameplay you are then presented with amazing graphics, break-neck control mechanics and even amazing sound. It’s like a cartoon shell over a very serious game. But WOW! What a game it is.
The story goes that you have to stop at nothing to defeat the Nergal. With fights taking place in space, on planets and all sorts of amazing places. The single player modes offers a good amount of missions and you never feel like you are flying in the sam scenery twice. But what really makes this game special is the gameplay. Located just behind the spaceship, it reacts to your head movements. While that has been done a million times before, it has never been done this well. If you need to get out of trouble, a quick head snap to the side will cause your ship to spin and twist out of the way of whatever you need to avoid. It so responsive that after a few missions you will be flying in and around tiny holes in asteroids with deadly precision. Using it to spin and get away from the people trying to shoot you down. You always feel in total control of your ship, which leads you to feeling truly immersed and that is what VR is all about.
This is a game so exciting it doubled my heart rate! From the snap-fast gameplay mechanics to the gorgeous graphics. This game might look a little cartoonish from the outside, but once you get into the actual gameplay it is deadly serious. Space games and VR go together like socks and shoes. Sure they can be separate, but they just look silly. This is a game that makes that link clear and at times the immersion is so great that will have you truly believing you are an ace space fighter pilot.
Download this game, get some headphones on and make sure you are sat in a quick moving swivel chair and join the war. Play online, all the mission, then when you have done all of those get online and really test those skills.
