Review: Toy Plane Heroes is a multiplayer dogfighting game in which you are put in control of a toy plane. You start the game in a toy room with a pretty cool plane flying around with a banner fluttering behind it, but what is most noteworthy is the DK1 on the table(love Easter eggs). Starting off you get a few game modes to choose from. There is Campaign, Battle Mode and Quick and normal join modes for online matches. Starting the campaign mode you get to play 15 missions under command of McRed and 15 missions under OGreen, it’s like picking sides, but at least you can do them all on both sides. Then within each mission, there is a bronze, silver or gold medal to be awarded. Completionists will want to get all golds which let me tell you will take some serious gameplay skills.
While this game is all about the flying you are not stuck just using a biplane, there are fighter jets, helicopters and much bigger planes. Each one handles pretty differently and each one is more intense when it comes to the VR experience. Obviously, the jet is the fastest and will make most people feel a little queasy, but there is good news. The new ‘Easy Mode’ that has been added (yes X or Y) turns off the roll function and makes the game much, much more bearable. While it took a while to find the right controls I soon got the hang of it and found the game in easy mode a lot more playable.
