Review: Headmaster is not the game about running a school that you might be expecting. Instead, it is all about going a ‘header’ in football (Soccer if you live elsewhere in the planet). The idea is pretty simple, you need to head the ball into a set goal. Maybe an open football goal, or maybe just a small hoop. Soon you will be trying to get moving targets and even trying to get one past the cardboard cutout goalie.
While some of the tasks/challenges it asks you to perform are near impossible the gameplay itself is pretty self-explanatory and quickly mastered. You will be doing jump headers in no time and if you are expecting a game that you can play sitting on the couch you will be bitterly disappointed. In fact, this game gets so energetic that I found myself sweating within the first few levels (all those years of playing non-VR videogames mean I am not the fittest person).
To be fair to the PSVR the headset tracking is pretty spot on and I didn’t come across many times when I went out of tracking range and when I did it was most probably my own fault (it’s not easy to keep a track on where you are in relation to the camera). Headmaster is a must for anyone who loves their football, but be warned you don’t get too much for your buck and the gameplay does get a little bit repetitive even when each level brings new challenges, it is always just doing the same thing, only aiming in a different spot. Apart from those little gripes, it is a good game and one that is sure to be a VR party favourite.
