Review: Playing the role of John Bowman (ex-army guy) your job is to stop a hoard of aliens that have come to take over planet earth. Luckily for you, there is plenty of guns and ammo nearby to waste these alien scum. Wave after wave keep coming and the aliens get bigger and bigger until what I can only describe as a ‘War of the Worlds’ style robot comes to take you out.
You get grenades, assault rifles, handguns, machine guns you name it to take down the pending alien invasion and that is all you get. Just you, some good aiming and a lot of strategic luck in survival. The action is fast, the aliens look great and at times the immersion can be truly terrifying. With some truly scary monsters and a good range of guns and other weapons, this is an all-action shooter that will have your heart pounding in no time at all. Sure, the aiming is a little off (but that could also be me being a bad player) but other than that playing ‘The Purge Day’ with a normal gamepad is an awful lot of fun, but I think playing it with touch controllers would be so much better. But that is just about my only gripe about the game. Well worth a download by anyone who has ever wanted to kick alien butt.
