Description: Waddle Home is a game about life as a benevolent alien who loves saving penguins and solving puzzles. Guide penguins through a snowy world filled with traps, guards, and ice, and lead them back home to the Rescue Ship. Bop blocks and toggle switches to help them escape nasty traps and dodge those pesky robot guards. Save the penguins as fast as you can, and collect all three eggs in each level to get a high score!
Review: Do you love puzzle games? Do you love penguins? If you say yes to both of those questions maybe this is the game for you. You play the game as a penguin saving alien why just loves the little oily birds. Standing in the water you take control of the wands that look a lot like xylophone mallets as you tap onto squares and penguins alike, tapping on platforms raises or lowers them and tapping on the little cute animals speeds them up. It is very much like Fly to KUMA, or maybe Metro Warp, the penguins themselves automatically walk forward and always turn right when they hit walls.
The goal of the game is to get the penguins to the exit (and therefore safety) while collecting some eggs if you feel up to the extra challenge. With traps, enemies and even your own mistakes often leading to their untimely deaths. There is a range of environments to play in and 40 levels to play, oh! And all the challenge eggs on each level if like me you are a bit of a perfectionist.
Waddle Home ticks all the right boxes. It’s fun to play, easy to get the hang of and also offers pretty good value for money. It also has to be said that in VR in it works extremely well and feels natural to play. It even feels strangely real and immersive at times, like little real robot penguins placed down on a diorama for you to control. Waddle Home should be waddling into your PSVR collection ASAP.
