Review: Are you the type of person who will visit a country with the intention of spending most your time there in an art gallery? It’s a lot of travel isn’t it to see all those works or art located all over the world. Well, worry no more because Mocove Arts is a virtual art gallery that features the top thousand paintings (by what rating?) from artists and galleries from all over the world.
You navigate around the gallery via a controller and when you come across something you like simply click on it and it will tell you the title, artist and year it was painted. Each little section of the gallery contains a certain artist, sadly with no map you will have to explore to find your favourite artist, but the idea here is to see them all, not just one section of it.
Mocove Arts could easily be used as a great educational resource for art students and teachers alike. Having said that, often with these works of art, it not so much about the picture of the art, but the texture, the knowing that Michelangelo or Picasso slaved over it and touched it with their hands. While this might never replacing seeing the art in real life, it will make it a lot easier for someone researching it or unable to travel all over the world to see it.
