Review: Once again, here we are with yet another horror game done in VR. Why so many? Because horror games in VR are the most immersive and therefore best experience you can have in virtual reality, so it makes sense that a lot of the games are horror because they want their games to sell. But does that mean they are any good? Well, Here They Lie VR certainly looks the part with it’s surreal Silent Hill meets noir style. Talking of the style, this is graphically like no other game you would have played before. It’s almost blurry like, but done intentionally to up the fright levels. Using a DualShock 4 controller you move around the game world and explore this blurry, scary looking land.

Most of the game is based around exploring the noir game land, solving puzzles and pushing your reflexes as fast as they can go. While the storyline is deep it is also quite obscure, but then again ‘obscure’ perfectly sums up what this game is all about. There is no fighting here, just avoiding and exploring which is also a nice change. Sometimes it is nice to play something a little different and Here They Lie VR is certainly that.

With its unique graphical style (that at first looks rubbish, but you soon get the point of it), great sound and deep storyline this is one of the more unique horror games I have ever played on any system, let alone in VR, but it also has the same problem of VR sickness. You can’t place normal game movements in a VR headset and expect people not to feel nauseous. As per usual, the game is a little short in length, but there are some collectable items that you might want to play back through again and collect. If you like your horror to be on the weird side, this is the game for you.
