Description: Have you got what it takes to be MVP in RIGS Mechanized Combat League? Pilot your finely-tuned double-gunned sports “RIG” in futuristic custom-built arenas where mechanised combat and sports collide head-on. Build your skills to unlock extra RIGS in the exhilarating single-player experience, then team up and go online to take on the world.
RIGS is a first-person shooter that places you inside a giant robot, the idea of the game is to score points in the most you are playing. There is ‘team takedown’, ‘endzone’ and ‘power slam’ which is the main game and the one most people will play. In this mode (Power Slam) you must shoot your opponent’s orbs that are scattered all over the game arena, then once you have enough you can enter overdrive mode which means you can jump through the large ring in the centre of the arena. This, in turn, scores you one point (a goal).
Review: This is one of those VR games that is more fun to watch than it is to play, but playing is an experience that you will love every part of. Playing offline is fun, but the online multiplayer aspect takes it to a new level with tournaments and leagues to compete in. The sounds of the crowd, the gorgeous graphics all go to making this game very immersive and one you can easily spend hours playing.
If anyone remembers the classic Speedball on the Atari ST and Amiga, you will feel right at home here. The mix of action and sport is one that works well together and to be fair RIGS really takes it to a whole new level. But it is the multiplay aspect that really shines here. OK, so at times it can be a little glitchy online and in VR it will make you feel quite ill, but a few updates and this will improve. VR needs more games like this and I am sure there will be more than one RIGS game.
