Description: Warp inside an old arcade shooter and defeat waves of geometric enemies in full VR glory! Vektron Revenge is an old-school style shooter done exclusively for VR. The playfield has no limits as you avoid and destroy waves of enemies in a 360 degree environment while being right in the middle of the action. Watch out for obstacles and use the Revenge power-up to reduce enemies to a gigantic blast of FXs and sounds!

The faster you can clear a wave, the bigger the wave bonus. Concentrate on grabbing the blue pills coming from enemies to score extra – but don’t be too greedy or you might end up trapped in a difficult position. Try to be the best as you climb the ranks through the world leaderboards. May your name be among the coveted top 10 of the Vektron hall of fame!

Review: What I love most about Vektron Revenge is that its mindless fun. Sure, it is a real challenge to prevent yourself from crashing into other ships all the while trying to shoot them down, but it doesn’t require any complex storyline, no complicated button system, in fact, you can select settings to auto-fire and then you only need to move the ship. But it is silly easy using both game sticks to play it. Those days of 8-bit space shooters like Space Invaders and Centipede bring back great memories for me and this game is all about trying to recapture those happy, long-gone days.

In truth, it does work and it works well. Flying the ship around a sort of 360° dome is pretty easy (if you have a good quality, fast-moving swivel chair) but most people (including myself) will just play with the area that is put in front of me and not worry about what is at the sides or behind me. While the graphics are pretty basic (keeping with the 8-bit style) they do come right out, into your face at times which is pretty cool to see.

No matter how old you are, you will have fond memories of whatever you would call “Retro Gaming” for those of us who are 30 years plus, we love games on the Atari and the home PC’s like the Commodore 64, the Amstrad CPC 464 or the Sinclair Spectrum 128k. Or even from games we played in the arcades! (If you don’t know what a video games arcade is, just ask your parents). If you consider yourself an 8-bit retro game fan, this will keep you happy for hours. Just try and hold off until it is in a sale as £6.99 is a little steep if you ask me. But even for half that you should get your money’s worth.
