Presentation: You would almost swear the HP Reverb comes in the same box most of their printers come in! Sure, it has a nice image of the headset on top, but the same styling as their printers which does give it a cheap and cheerful look to it. Once you open the outer box you pull open another full box inside! I’m not sure what the reasoning is behind this, but I suppose it does add an extra layer of protection at least. But not even opening this will reveal the headset as it is all found inside further boxes with only the leads on top of the controllers. It’s like a rats nest of boxes and while it does mean they are all protected and the headset is in a black dust bag you could unbox everything before you get to the headset so all-in-all it does make for a pretty great (if a little weird) unboxing experience.

Review: While the weight of the headset does take a little getting used to the HP Reverb does offer a pretty fantastic experience. When I first put it on, the high resolution was immediately amazing to experience and much clearer than ALL other WMR headsets at its time. Sure, the blacks are not as good as the OLED in the Vive Pro, but the difference in clarity is great enough for me not to care too much about that. If HP could only redesign the cable to be as light as the Samsung Odyssey+ one, or have the same shape controllers as Samsung and if the screen was OLED then it would have been perfect. But even as it is I have to say it really does give the Samsung Odyssey+ a run for its money, but doesn’t quite win in terms of display.
