Description: Funded by the USC Wicked Problems Practicum, USC students from Annenberg, Dornsife, Games, Viterbi and the Wrigley Institute harnessed emerging technology to produce immersive projects in the 2019-2020 academic year that illustrate how the climate crisis is threatening caribous and their habitats.
In partnership with the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and supervised by Professors Robert Hernandez (JOVRNALISM) and Vangelis Lympouridis (USC Games), the team of engineering, journalism, and game design students collaborated to create an interactive XR experience about the caribou diorama.
Review: ‘Beyond The Diorama: Caribou World’ is a short interactive experience about how the climate crisis is affecting habitats across the world. Oh, and there are some Caribou as well. Those said Caribou don’t move, there is nothing to interactive with here other than the waypoints and the few questions there are and it is a million miles away from being fun or educational. Sure, someone might find this 5-minute experience interesting, but if this wasn’t for free I doubt anyone would have been downloading it.
