Review: As with all these 3D world creation tools I am probably not the best person to review them due to my lack of personal creativity. But what I can comment on is how easy I found it to use and what the range of tools is like. So the good news is ‘Microsoft Maquette’ is one of the best I have used. There is a well-structored set of tutorials to get into it and after watching a few of these videos I was able to jump into it.
For a free app, I have to say this looks very polished and could be a good place for those of us just getting into 3D modelling. While not perfect (the movement system is terrible) I feel most people will enjoy using this and even I managed to create a small castle-like environment with it, so I have high hopes this could be a good starting app for most people. At least it is free so you can give it a go without laying down the cash.
