Review: Digital Domain’s Monkey King is a non-interactive VR animated story in which you follow along with the adventures of Sun Wukong (aka: The Monkey King) This person in Chinese, is a legendary figure best known as one of the main characters in the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West and many later stories and adaptations. The Monkey King’s origins predate the novel and can be traced back to the Song dynasty. This is an animated adventure starring him and at 30 minutes runtime, this is more a full mini-movie than anything I have seen before. OK, so it’s not as gorgeous to look at anything from Oculus Studios but is well worth the £3.99 asking price.
