Review: Let me tell you the truth about ‘Echo Grotto’. This game doesn’t look great, it’s slow and boring and its also kind of pointless. But yet…it is also a game that only VR could have made great. From the lighting in the caves, to the great sense of depth and size that you only get with VR. This is a cave exploration game in which you can throw glow sticks, use a torch and you throw a teleporting ball to get around. This is a basic game that gives you all the options to make it more fun than it is. You can add some bugs to find, you can get around using a pair of grappling arms and you can even take a snorkel to use underwater. Its not going to be for everyone, but I found it to be peaceful and full of wonder around every corner. It made me want to explore the randomly generated caves even if there was no real point in doing so. Heck, I’m even going to say it is worth the £5.79 asking price! Just do be aware than you will make this game amazing or you won’t. It is up to you to make it something amazing.
