VR News: If you are an expecting mother-to-be and you plan to have your baby at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff you might well be giving birth while in VR! Early tests have revealed some surprising results especially for those with past traumatic birth experiences. Nick Hartley for BBC News finds out what the tests of revealed and how much success it has been https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-49280154
My Thoughts: It is good to see Wales (where I live) leading the way on virtual reality use in the medical care system. While I can imagine this might help people in early signs of labour, or maybe just before labour it is never going to be a replacement for current pain killers and other things used to make the birth a little easier for the parent. We have already seen VR used in pain management before, but never in this situation. I would love to see a woman in labour playing a shooting game, it could be the angriest gameplay ever!
