VR News: It is believed that the company’s newest Pixel smartphones will not support the company’s own Daydream VR platform. So does this mean the end of the daydream or is there something more to it? Lucas Matney for TechCrunch discussed this in this article – https://techcrunch.com/2019/05/07/googles-big-vr-news-is-that-there-is-no-vr-news/
My Thoughts: To be honest the Daydream VR platform never really took off, mostly because it wasn’t separated from the Google Play store meaning people ended up being confused as to what was a Daydream VR game and which ones were mobile VR (Google Cardboard) games. When you compare the software quality and quantity to the Oculus Gear VR platform it was looking a little pale in comparison. I heard there was a lot of disparity with the app and game developers as well which couldn’t help matters and it also has to be said the Gear VR headsets is a much better headset than the Daydream view one. I for one will not miss it and I suspect there isn’t a lot of people who will.
