Description: HoloGrid: Monster Battle VR is an original Virtual Reality game by HappyGiant and Tippett Studio. A “Hybrid” Board Game & Collectible Card Game (CCG), using the monsters of VFX Legend Phil Tippett and inspired by the “HoloChess” scene he created many years ago for the original Star Wars film.

The game is a Tactical Battle Strategy game, where each Monster and Spell brings a unique Ability and strategy to each match. Play Single Player matches against the AI, or play Multiplayer against Friends. Over 2500 Team Combos supported at launch!

Review: While I could nitpick at the faults of this game like not really making great use of VR and a rather annoying position switch in the controls overall this is one of the best strategy card flippers available on the Gear VR. With some truly amazing animations and a rather nice space themed playing environment there is always something nice to look at. Against AI it will get a little bit boring, but once you get a few friends playing it the fun will really kick in. With a chess style of gameplay, it allows for some pretty deep thinking but is also easy enough to learn for people to go all on the offensive. Even at the full price of £3 this game is worth a download, but at half that in the sale, I felt I really got my moneys worth.
