Review: If there is one game I miss not playing it has to be Mario Kart. With all the multiplayer fun and joy of smashing your enemy with a rocket just yards from the finish line and overtaking them for the win is one of life’s greatest gameplay moments. Well, I have good news for you. VR Karts is a kart racing game (obviously) done in a very similar cartoon style to games like Diddy Kong Racing and Mario Kart.

With power-ups scattered all around the racing tracks you just need to win by any means necessary. All the usual powerups are here: The speed boost, the rocket even land mines! You have access to 4 cups, each consisting of 3 racing tracks on each as well as a network multiplayer option for some crazy races with friends. There is also some high level of customisation from the racers themselves to the decals on the karts, this is a game you can make your own.

Maybe it’s the console controls of the way it is viewed in the PSVR headset, there is something more polished, more complete about this version and while I do feel the PlayStation VR version of VR Karts is the best one yet, I also have to take into account that it is the most expensive.

If you have your VR legs (due to the nausea of any racing game, not just VR Karts) and you love games like Mario Kart and Sonic Racing, give this a go and you will be truly surprised at just how good it is. But if you are not sure you will enjoy it, just wait for a sale price and then give it a go. Either way, it is totally worth playing and no matter what system I play it on it always surprises me at how much fun it is.
