Description: Just beneath the cube falling from above, it glows yellow and keeps track of the player’s head, when it gets red it stops pursuit and falls to that place. We will guide cubes well and aim to climb higher. How far can you climb high? Is it?

Review: FallingPixel is an action game that sees you playing the role of a dark, shadowy figure who just wants to climb high. OK, so there is no storyline to this game at all, but it was nice to start this review with one. The idea of this game sounds on paper pretty simple. You just need to climb on blocks to climb higher. The thing is, the blocks start to track the players only moving to the blocks that are underneath or to the sides of where he is stood.

While there is no tutorial, I soon got the hang of the game. Sadly the control system is a little flawed, but get over that and you will be climbing higher and higher with each go. There is also the possibility for a height/score challenge with friends giving this game some much-needed gameplay length.

Sadly the controls on FallingPixel don’t help the flow of the game and at times I could turn around using the control stick and other times it seemed I couldn’t. Also, the blocks just magically appear in place from what I can only guess is a void of some sort, there is no time to jump out of the way and often no change to be strategic about where it will go. But that does make the game oddly exciting. Once you get up a few levels and the blocks underneath start to vanish, suddenly this game starts to get really exciting. This is a great idea for a VR game that I could see working well with just the slightest of improvements.
